pattern play rooms

Bold mixtures of patterns and colors make these rooms exciting and fun. In the living room, the client chose the turquoise and coral color combination seen in the chairs. We played with those two colors in varying intensities, adding in whites, creams and metallics. At the same time, we intermingled luxe materials (like velvet, metallic, wool and silk) with casual materials (think woven hyacinth chairs, cement pots, and grasscloth covered table). The zebra skin is an inexplicably good partner to the orange and pink “squiggles” fabric in the dining room. This pair is then tempered by the dark wood and the raffia side chairs. One step down from the dining room is a new “ladies wine room” which layers navy velvet over a chunky braided jute rug and under a metallic cork wallpaper ceiling. The end result—rooms that people are excited to use!
