A young family wanted to give their newly-constructed home a warm, cozy, cottage-style feel to reflect their own tastes. We added lots of cottage-y pinks, blues and greens to the back of the house (kitchen, family room and home office) and then brought tonal sophistication to the more formal living and dining rooms in the front of the house. We layered whites, cream, grays and blacks throughout the front spaces, along with small touches of color. We also combined casual natural textures like jute, burlap and linen with more lush textures like velvet and crystal. In the family room, we added beadboard and beams to the cathedral ceiling for architectural interest, and designed a custom 9’ bar with dual refrigeration.
